This might be my new favorite photo of me and my dad, Tuggie and Baby Tuggie. I know Father's Day like Mother's Day can bring up a lot of emotions for people. I hope whatever today was for you, it was all that you needed it to be. I was blessed with a great dad, I know and am related to some great dads. I also know that today was tough for some folks because it was the first Father's Day without their dad. #OdeToMyAncestors I had decided what I was wearing for Easter maybe two weeks ago. The skirt still had the tag on it and I felt it was appropriate for Easter. But I felt like my Easter hats, formally known as #OdeToVerna didn't quite go with the outfit. But I was going to wear it anyway. When I got to church, some folks knew me just by my hat. This is the only #ChurchHat I have right now but this hat is so special. As many of you may know, my grandmother, Verna, gave me this hat, as they were closing my great Aunt, Aunt Hurley's (Harriet, Verna's sister) hat shop in their hometown of Bridgeton, NJ. My grandmother knew that purple was my favorite color so this is the hat she grabbed for me. I wore it to her service last year. I will always wear this hat for Easter. Today I got so many compliments on it (and the matching purse). I know my grandmother and great aunt are proud. I tip my hat to them today, an ode to my ancestors. Remember when I said March was full of celebrations. Well March 2 in particular is a great example. Slide 1 - my beloved alma mater #HowardUniversity is celebrating 156 years of Black Excellence. Today is Howard's Charter Day. Extra shout out to the Men's basketball team for winning the MEAC regular season championship, and the Men's swim team for winning the NEC championship late last week. While some are celebrating Valentine's Day or some version of it, today hits different for me as today is the first anniversary of my grandmother's passing. I miss Verna terribly but I know that I'll see her again. I feel like the first one hurts the most, they hurt less over time. Some times you have to rip the pages out. I have been STRUGGLING with trying to get organized using the #BulletJournalMethod. I started watching the YouTube channels, bought some (more) supplies, started reading the book, signed up for #BuJoU trying to do all the things. I realize I definitely started backwards and I am suffering from #PerfectionParalysis. Even though we're 6 days into the new month, I haven't tried to even create a spread. Today I was going to start small and write down some to dos. I opened up my book and had some reminders of things I'd rather forget. I used less than 20% of the book, it's definitely still viable. Rather than agonize about those pages, what I wrote down and what they mean, I just ripped them out. I didn't write my to dos down but I got them done.
